Saffron Cherry’s Sally Lindsay has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her services to drama.

It’s a brilliant start to the year at Saffron Cherry, as our creative director, Sally Lindsay, has been awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in recognition of her outstanding services to drama.

With a career spanning more than two decades, Lindsay has been a passionate and vocal champion for women and working-class voices across the industry, using her platform to push for greater representation and opportunity.

Reflecting on the honour, Lindsay said: “Throughout my career I’ve met incredible people, made lifelong friends, and worked on so many memorable projects. I’d like to dedicate this award to the 8% of working-class people who make up our industry and I hope that number grows significantly in the years to come.”

Madame Blanc Christmas Special draws a crowd!

Saffron Cherry Productions ended the year on a celebratory high, as the much-loved Madame Blanc Mysteries Christmas Special attracted an impressive 1.2 million viewers, securing its place as the most-watched programme across all main channels from 8pm onwards. The celebrations continued later that evening with Sally Lindsay’s Christmas Quiz, which delivered fun, festive nostalgia on Channel 5 on December 23rd.

Saffron Cherry’s Creative Director Sally Lindsay and MD Caroline Roberts-Cherry were at the House of Lords as guests of The Baroness Newlove at the launch of the Women of the Year Awards 2024.

The Women of the Year Luncheon and Awards has announced its 2024 Awards will be taking place for the first time in Manchester at The Etihad on the 11th of October, with an expected 500 guests in attendance. The event, in its 42nd year, celebrates the achievements of exceptional women across the UK. This is the first time the organisation has selected Manchester to host the awards, and in recognition of the city where the suffragette movement famously began, there is a new category named The Emmeline Award – Woman of Courage. Sally is President of the Women of the Year Awards and Caroline is the Chair of the Pankhurst Trust.

All at Saffron Cherry Productions wish to pay our respects to our lovely colleague and friend Kay Benbow

All at Saffron Cherry Productions wish to pay our respects to our lovely colleague and friend Kay Benbow, the former Controller of CBeebies who has just passed away.

She was a brilliant beacon within the Children’s sector and will be sorely missed by everyone who had the good fortune to know and work with her. We were lucky enough to work with her for over five years on The World According to Grandpa (Milkshake!) as she was the story editor and steadfast champion of and mentor to the creator and writer Chris Heath. She was a brilliant, loyal friend with passion, intelligence and integrity and she was also incredibly kind. We offer our sincere condolences to Kay’s family and a hug to the industry.
